Edmonton Criminal Driving Offences Lawyer
Driving Offences
In addition to Impaired Driving, we have extensive experience with all Criminal Code driving offences, including Dangerous Driving.
These are serious charges which will generally result in lengthy driving prohibitions and suspensions if there is a conviction. Depending on the severity of the circumstances, jail is possible.
There are varying degrees of Dangerous Driving Charges:
- Dangerous Driving Causing Death: this conviction carries a maximum sentence of 14 years and a 5 year license suspension.
- Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm: if convicted, this carries a maximum sentence of 10 years and a 5 year licence suspension.
- Dangerous Driving: this conviction would get a person a maximum of 5 years in prison and a 1 year licence suspension.
We can also help you with other driving offences like Flight from Police (failing to stop a vehicle as soon as is reasonable), and Criminal Hit and Run (failing to stop at the scene of an accident). If convicted, these offences carry sentences anywhere from a maximum of 5 years to life in prison if death is involved in any case.
Driving While Prohibited
If you are charged with driving with a suspended license in Edmonton or anywhere in Alberta, you can face serious consequences. In some cases, if you are charged with the Criminal Code offence of Driving While Prohibited, you can go to jail and even face a minimum one year driving prohibition.
